Embark on an ecological tour that promises an extraordinary day of exploration. Our journey begins by introducing you to a beautiful coffee plantation nestled in the central region of the valley. From there, we’ll venture to two remarkable destinations: the Poás Volcano National Park—one of the 30 largest volcanoes globally—and the awe-inspiring La Paz Waterfall Gardens, a wildlife refuge teeming with over 100 species of magnificent animals.
As we set off along the General Cañas road toward Alajuela, keep an eye out for notable landmarks such as the Monument to the Farmer, the Monument to Juan Santamaría, and the renowned Mango Park. Our ascent to the Poás volcano includes a stop at “Café Tres Generaciones,” where we’ll provide a brief overview of our beloved “Golden Bean”—Costa Rican coffee. Continuing our journey, we’ll ascend through fern and strawberry crops until we arrive at the Poás Volcano national park. Here, amidst the cloud forest, you’ll encounter diverse vegetation and witness the active main crater with its impressive fumaroles.
After marveling at the volcano, we’ll explore the park’s various ecosystems during a leisurely walk. But our adventure doesn’t end there. Next, we’ll visit “La Paz Waterfall Gardens,” a sanctuary nestled in lush rainforest. Along verdant trails, you’ll encounter spectacular waterfalls, and the experience extends to butterfly and hummingbird observatories, a feline rescue center, playful monkeys, vibrant aviaries, exquisite orchids, fascinating frogs, and even a serpentarium.
